- "They are the ones blessed by the tower with the knowledge of all the paths within, to assist in its navigation, and, at times, are even able to foresee the future and change it."
The Guide (길잡이, Giljahbi; "one who chooses and leads the way") is the Position that
leads the way for the team.
A Guide usually works as a team with a Light Bearer. While the Light Bearer shines light upon the dark surroundings, the guide may lead its team through the most advantageous route. Generally, the Guide locates the path and conveys the information to the Light Bearer, who then transmit the information to the entire team.
Guides have excellent analysis skills, and an A-Rank guide can determine the power of an individual just by looking at them. However, Evan Edrok failed to assess Baam's qualities and thought of him as average.
Guides seen so far in the series have displayed an uncommon intuition as to what was going on.
Yu Han Sung explained to Rachel that Guides are the ones "blessed by The Tower with the knowledge of all the paths within, to assist in its navigation, and, at times, are even able to foresee the future and change it. (Ch 77)" Guides, however, have quite low battle capabilities().
When Koon Agero Agnis asks her how she's present on the 29th floor despite having failed the Floor of Test, Hwa Ryun replies that "I can go anywhere. I'm a guide, after all", implying that Guides can reach floors without passing the tests normally necessary to do so.
The Biduh Family's Research Institute forbids the research of the Guide Position, although the Family Head, Po Biduh Gustang, is fascinated with it. It is believed that he is saving the research for himself.
- "Seeing" the paths of The Tower and navigating someone on the path they can take: A Guide can only teach the path to those who can walk it (Ch 3). For example: Evan Edrok didn't want to help Baam during the Guardian's Test, on the 1st Floor because an ordinary person would die if he tried the solution (Ch 3). Rachel was Guided briefly (or possibly for a longer period of time) by Hwa Ryun, who's still with Baam.
- "Projecting" their words into a person's mind: Evan Edrok spoke to Yuri Zahard and her party in such a manner, and no one else could hear his words.
- Observer: An Item used by most guides in order to determine the location of enemies or targets. It can be described as little "eyes" floating, controlled by a shinsoo field of the guide.
