Dallar Show

The Dallar Show!

The Dallar Show is a lesser known test where players compete with each other using points called "dallars"; this is a 'point-saving' type of game. It was recently played in the Hell Express by two opposing teams headed by Hoaqin and Jyu Viole Grace respectively.

History

This test is one that is probably unfamiliar to most Regulars and is one that was used by the 10 Family Heads to decide how to split the rights for the Tower after they had finished climbing it.[1]

Rules

Dallar Show2

Three rounds of hell

In the incarnation being played on the Hell Express, the game is split into three rounds. The dallars earned in the 1st round must be used in the 2nd round and the dallars earned in the 2nd round must be used in the 3rd and final round to decide the winner.[1]

All Regulars are given a "random amount" of dallars but the sum of dallars for each team will be the same. Viole's group and Wangnan's group are considered as one team so their collective sum of dallars will equal the sum of dallars for Hoaqin's team. The highest amount of dallars a Regular receives, in the beginning, is 10 dallars.[1]

Dallar Show3

Team Wangnan + Team Viole VS Team Hoaqin

In each round, there are limits and restrictions on the points earned through dallars. Regulars that win their round can take the same amount of dallars that has been bet from their opponent as a reward and dallars that have been collected can be transferred to the leaders of each team. Regardless, in the final round, all the dallars each team has collected will be used by the team leaders.[1]

A dallar

A dallar

Dallars are the most important factor of the game and thus, any Regular that has a dallar is qualified to participate in the game. Conversely, if a Regular loses all their dallars and has none left, they can no longer participate (and may even die on the field of play!). Should the amount of dallars that a Regular has received is revealed to the opponent, it may become disadvantageous for the Regular in question.[1]

At the close of round 2, Team Hoaqin had 22 dallars in total and Team Viole had 112 dallars in total.

Round 1

The reward for winning in the first round was 15 dallars and the losers lost 15 dallars. Because it was the first round only two Regulars from each team could participate; the Regulars with the highest number of dallars of 10 were the participants.

The name of the game in the first round was "Catching the sweetfish". The rules were simple: the participants literally needed to catch the sweetfish which was swimming about in a small water tank.[2] Because the sweetfish was to be used in later rounds, participants had to catch the sweetfish without killing it; if the latter occurred, the team who killed the sweetfish would lose on the spot.[2] Any and all means could be used to catch the sweetfish, including killing your opponent.[2]

Round 2

The reward for winning the second round was 30 dallars and the game was held in the 74th motor section of the Hell Express.[3]

The name of the second round game was "Transferring the sweetfish"; basically put, one team had to transfer the sweetfish to the destination. Since Team Viole won the first round game, "Catching the sweetfish", they had to safely transfer the sweetfish to the "core", which is at the centre of the motor section, via the pipes.[3] If Team Viole managed to get the sweetfish to the destination alive, they would win; if Team Hoaqin killed the sweetfish before it arrived at the destination, they would win.[3]
  • "Transferring the sweetfish"
  • The multipliers by having an exceeding amount of dallars
Participants from each team would be put into groups of between 1-3 people and would then navigate the pipes. If Regulars happened to encounter groups from the other team, they were able to take dallars away from each other by fighting.[3] Since Koon earned the sweetfish in the previous round, the fish belonged to his group.[3]

Participants were allowed open and close the doors that connected the pipes by using a certain amount of dallars; the opposing team then had to use a higher amount of dallars to open up the closed door.[3] For example, if one team used 15 dallars to close a door, the opposing team must use a higher amount of dallars to open up the door again.[3]
If a participant has 11-20 dallars, the amount of dallars for their team is squared. Possessing 21-30 dallars cubes the team's amount of dallars; possessing more than 30 dallars multiplies the group's amount of dallars by a factor of 4.[3]

Round 3

The game of the final round was called, "Go To Hell". In this game, hostages from each team would be used and the two leaders, Hoaqin and Jyu Viole Grace, would use their dallars to either save or forsake the lives of their hostages.[4] The game featured two variables, the Submarine of Death and the Submarine of Choice.

When the game started, hostages from each team would be randomly selected to board the Submarine of Death, one at a time.[4] With the hostage inside, the submarine would then travel down the spiral pipe to the bottom, which was filled with a boiling acid; put simply, if the hostage reached the bottom and fell into the substance, they would melt away and die.[4]

The two competitors had the ability to save the hostages. Hoaqin and Viole stood on the upper part of a shinsoo tent and, once the game began and the Submarine of Death carrying the hostage left, the two had the choice to descend through the 'central pipe' and save the hostage.[4] The two could fight each other during their descent and, until the hostage was saved or died, any form of combat was allowed.[4] Competitors had to pay a certain amount of dallars for each descent, with the number of dallars required depending on the position of the Submarine of Death; as the submarine got nearer the bottom, the number of dallars required decreased.[4]
  • Submarine of Death!
  • The spiralling pipe that the hostage descends down
  • The hostage dies if they reach the bottom!
  • Hoaqin and Viole can fight as they try to save their hostage
  • Submarine of Choice!

Another variable in the game was the Submarine of Choice (which appeared identical to the Submarine of Death). Only two selected Regulars from each team would board this submarine and, once on board, they could choose between two things. The first thing was the timing of freeing the hostage from the Submarine of Death; both candidates could make the final decision regarding freeing the hostage from the descending submarine.[4] The second thing was the height of the boiling acid in the central pipe. It cost 10 dallars to free the hostage and 5 dallars for every space that the height of the boiling acid was raised or lowered.[4]

If Hoaqin or Viole successfully saved their team's hostage, they would receive 10 dallars;[4] also if Hoaqin or Viole saved the other team's hostage, the hostage's team still received points for their hostage being saved.[5] Each team had three chances and the team that had saved more hostages after three rounds would be the winner. If a team ran out of dallars before this point, they would be automatically disqualified.[4]
